Hi, I’m Marija, and Bloom and Backyard is where I collect the outdoor ideas I actually want to copy: backyards, patios, front yards, balconies and garden beds that belong to ordinary houses and normal budgets.
Most garden content online is either an estate with a full-time gardener or a hardware-store catalog. I wanted the middle: a patchy lawn, a six-foot fence, a concrete patio and a weekend to make it somewhere you’d rather sit than scroll.
What you’ll find here
Idea roundups you can copy, sliced by the space you have: backyard, patio and deck, front yard, balcony and small spaces, garden beds and planting, and outdoor living (fire pits, lighting, outdoor dining).
Every idea comes with a rough cost line and a note on what it really takes: a free afternoon, a trip for gravel and pavers, a power tool, or a contractor. I say plainly when something is renter-friendly and when it isn’t.
How I think about outdoor spaces
A space feels finished when there is something at three heights: a rug or gravel underfoot, a chair at your knees, and a plant taller than you are. Most of what I write comes back to that rule.
Plants have to suit the spot. I name the sun, drainage and rough hardiness a plant needs, and I never promise that something grows anywhere.
About the photos and the products
The photographs on this site are illustrative and created with AI image tools, directed to show each idea as clearly as possible in an ordinary American yard. They are not photos of my own or anyone else’s property. The editorial and image policy explains how that works.
When I link to a product, it is a real, currently available item I chose because it fits the idea and the budget. Some links are affiliate links; see the affiliate disclosure.
